Xiaomi is expected to launch its next-generation Redmi smartphones including Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at the company’s December 7 event, which is just a few of days away from now. But the leaks related to the devices just don’t stop coming in.
The latest in the series of leaks is a promo video of Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China has made it to the Internet. The video in line with the leaked both devices with FullView displays and no front physical buttons.
More details about Xiaomi’s supposed upcoming smartphones – the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus – have surfaced online ahead of a confirmed media event from the company on December 7th, where it is expected to unveil the new smartphones.
The images were posted on Twitter by Donovan Sung, the Director of Product Management at Xiaomi, confirming the already leaked design of the smartphones. Both Xiaomi smartphones will feature a near bezel-less display with 18:9 ratio, according to what appears in the press renders that leaked on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Press renders also suggested that the both Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will feature FullView displays. A fingerprint scanner was also spotted on the back of the phones and also appeared to have a metal unibody design.
According to images, on the top, there is a 3.5mm audio jack, secondary microphone, and Infrared sensor. Both the Xiaomi phones have the front camera on the right side of the earpiece and two holes on the left, so one could be selfie flash. It seems like it will use on-screen buttons, even though there is a bezel below the screen.
Coming to the Xiaomi Redmi 5 specifications -based on recent leaks, the Redmi 5 that should be powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 2GB / 3GB / 4GB of RAM, 16GB / 32GB / 64GB of internal memory and 3,300mAh battery capacity. It will feature a 5.7-inch 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolutions, 12-megapixels rear camera with LED Flash and 5-megapixels front-facing camera. It will measure 151.8 x 72.8 x 7.7 mm and weighs 157 grams.
No news regarding the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus specifications, but is expected to be equipped with slightly higher hardware specs. We just have to wait for a few more days to get to know the whole truth about the new Xiaomi Redmi series devices.
