Xiaomi Mi8 appeared in a very first hands-on video that shows us an interesting feature: the use of a transparent glass back cover – in style OnePlus 6 Clear Edition.
Xiaomi Mi8 release date has been scheduled for next May 31, therefore, the new device of the Chinese company has not stopped giving surprises. If the information in the video were confirmed, Xiaomi Mi8 could be one of the first smartphones in the world to be characterized by a totally transparent back panel that shows part of the internal components.
In the video, it is also clearly possible to distinguish the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip logo, a dual rear camera sensor in vertical placement and a large upper notch display. At the front, the Xiaomi Mi8 houses a notch display, with volume and power button seen on the right edge. There is no Xiaomi logo on either side of the smartphone, so we expect you to take this leak with a pinch of salt.
As for the remaining technical specifications, Xiaomi Mi8 should arrive in two variants with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64Gb / 128GB of internal storage. There’s also an AI camera with 2x optical zoom support and a structured light 3D module for facial scanning.
Meanwhile, the pricing starts from CNY 2,799 for the 6GB RAM variant, while the 8GB RAM variant is tipped to be priced at CNY 3,199.
Alongside the Mi8, Xiaomi has now revealed that it is launching MIUI 10 at its annual event on May 31, which focuses largely on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. MIUI 10 will comes with the tag-line “faster than lightning”, this suggests that it will have some performance enhancements to deliver a better overall user experience.
