Xiaomi Mi 8 will have animated emojis in Apple’s Animoji or Samsung’s AR Emoji style. “A big wave of cuteness is coming” is the video teaser published by Xiaomi on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo showing some of these characters including a pig, a fox, a panda and the mascot of Chinese society, Mi Bunny (or Mitu).
For the characters animation, Mi8 will be equipped with a structured light 3D module that will enable 3D facial recognition feature which integrated into the “notch” that also allows the safe unlocking of the device. It will also include selfie camera, proximity sensor, ambient sensor, infrared lens, flood illuminator and dot projector.
However, in another teaser, Xiaomi announces that the Mi8 will be his best camera smartphone, from a qualitative point of view it’s surpassing his predecessor, and remember that got an excellent score from DXOMark positioning itself immediately below the Pixel 2 and to Galaxy S9 Plus.
A new leak on Weibo also shows a Xiaomi Mi 8 equipped with a rear fingerprint sensor. According to the latest rumors, the Chinese company may have provided two different variants: Xiaomi Mi8 “Standard” variant with rear fingerprint sensor; 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. While the Xiaomi Mi8 SE (Special Edition) version with in-screen fingerprint sensor and 6GB of RAM with 64GB/128GB/ 256GB of internal storage.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 should be announced in a few days on May 31 to be exact. It would be called Mi8 Anniversary Edition to remember Xiaomi’s eight years of activity.
According to rumors, among the technical features of this device, there would be a Snapdragon 845 processor, a dual rear camera sensor arranged vertically and a large display with the upper notch. There will be two variants of the device: 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage. Pricing for the Chinese market should start from CNY 2,999 – approximately $469.
