The Xiaomi Mi A1 was hit to market just a few days ago, the first handset from the company to running Android One operating system based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
However, Mi A1 is not a completely original device, since it is nothing more than a special variant of the already known Xiaomi Mi 5X, which shares the same design and hardware specs. That’s why many users have begun to wonder if it’s possible to turn Mi 5X into an Android One device and, thanks to community work, this result was achieved with a first ROM.
Xiaomi Mi 5X Android One porting seems to does not any bugs or issues, since this is basically the same device, though it will not be possible to receive OTA updates due to the different partitioning required by the seamless update of Android Nougat.
If you own Mi 5X, you can install the ROM by downloading the files and following the step-by-step procedure which is available on miui.com forum. Please note that you must have the unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery installed to proceed.
