Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus with Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor Launched

Xiaomi China has officially launched the Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus smartphones in China today, as expected. The Xiaomi Mi 5S is available in Silver, Grey, Gold and Rose Gold color variants. It has been priced at 1,999 Yuan – approximately $300 for the 64GB version and 2,299 Yuan – approximately $345 for the 128GB version. While the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus is available in Silver, Grey, Gold and Rose Gold color variants. It has been priced at 2,299 Yuan – approximately $345 for the 4GB RAM version and 2,599 Yuan – approximately $390 for the 6GB RAM version. The Mi 5S features a 5.15-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution; high brightness of 600 nits, 94.4% NTSC color gamut, and contrast ratio of 1500 : 1. The device has a smooth cutting-edge frame design and its housing made of all metal.

It is powered by a 2.15 GHz quad-core processor which supported by 64-bit Snapdragon 821 chipset clubbed with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs in 3GB LPDDR4 of RAM with 64GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage and 4GB LPDDR4 of RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage space.

The Mi 5S flaunts a 12-megapixel primary autofocus camera with Sony IMX378 1/2.3-inch sensor, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. It can also shoot 4K and 720p slo-mo video at 120fps. It has a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens, and 2um pixels to capture stunning self portraits and quality video calling. The Xiaomi Mi 5S comes equipped with a new Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which placed under the glass in front. Now it is more fast and accurate that scans fingerprint in a split-second. The device runs MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It packs a 3100mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. It supports dual SIM slot with dual standby, For connectivity includes 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB Type-C options.

Coming to Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus, as main highlight of the device its dual rear camera setup, with two 12-megapixel sensors – one for color, and the other for black and white along with PDAF autofocus and ClearSight technology. There is a same 4-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie.

Other differences including, the Mi 5S Plus features a 5.7-inch display; 550 nits brightness, 94% NTSC color gamut, 1300 : 1 contrast ratio; brushed all metal uni-body with 2.5D glass on the front. It also comes powered by Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor but high clocked at 2.35GHz and teamed with Adreno 530 GPU.  Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor

It packs in 4GB LPDDR4 of RAM with 64GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage and 6GB LPDDR4 of RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage space. Also comes with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on its home button; and 3700mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. Rest of the specs are same as Mi 5S.
