AMD recently announced two highly anticipated titles, available in the coming months, Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus and Far Cry 5, will support the Rapid Packed Math, a new feature that is currently only present on AMD RX Vega GPUs.
The revolutionary system, as explained by developers, Rapid Packed Math allows a graphics card to execute two math instructions. This basically means that both of these games should, theoretically, run way faster with 16-bit than with the standard 32-bit that pretty much all games currently use.
At the moment, the Rapid Packed Math will be an exclusive feature of the AMD RX Vega GPUs that will be released at the end of this month. It will also be interesting to find out that the new feature will allow AMD’s RX Vega GPUs to compete with the most powerful Nvidia cards.
In addition, the new AMD RX Vega GPUs features that could also be used in other games in the future, as of now fully support for Microsoft Direct X12 API.
