Vivo APEX 2019 With 12GB of RAM, SD 855, unibody 3D design and 5G Launched

Vivo lifted the veil from its APEX 2019 concept phone was originally introduced during MWC 2018. Almost a year later, Vivo has refined what is considered to be his most ambitious smartphone, presenting a product that no longer has the concept phone label, but instead places itself as a starting point for the 2019 range of the Chinese house.

Expectations were high also due to the media campaign carried out by the company over the last few days and the new Vivo APEX 2019 does not seem to disappoint, starting from the design almost totally without edges – except for a thin one at the bottom – and the absence of any holes (like the one shown on Meizu Zero) that could interrupt the uniformity of the body. The only exception is the dual rear camera and a series of ports located at the bottom of the back of the device, which are used for the magnetic connection to external devices (such as a PC).

Viva APEX 2019 has also renounced the holes dedicated to the headset or the speaker, choosing a solution that turns the screen into a speaker. Also absent the keys dedicated to volume and on / off, replaced by capacitive keys placed on the sides of the body.

There is also a fingerprint sensor that can cover almost the entire display, giving the user a large surface area to quickly perform biometric authentication. The new Vivo APEX 2019 is based on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC – kept at bay with a new cooling plate – and integrates up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space. There is also full support for 5G connectivity.

Vivo has also adopted particular engineering solutions within the smartphone, using a dual layer motherboard (similar to the iPhone X and successors) that allows to reduce the overall dimensions of the components to a minimum. There is talk of a reduction of the surface of 50% and 30% with respect to the thickness of the modules.

As you can see, there are still many details such as screen size and resolution, information on cameras used, battery capacity and much more. We should wait a little longer to find out if this APEX will be brought to market the way it was announced today or whether we will see a similar but less extreme model being released.

Vivo has announced the presence of 3 different colors (black, white, silver), thus increasing the possibilities that APEX 2019 can become a commercial product. In any case, the company has remarked that in 2019 it will release a first wave of experimental 5G smartphones, while it will be necessary to wait for 2020 for large-scale production.
