In May this year, the Essential Phone was launched in USA from the Android creator Andy Rubin. At the time of launch, the company listed the device exclusively on its website, but now the while the 128GB Unlocked Essential Phone Amazon pre-orders started from today, priced at $691.78 and it will be available on September 1, 2017, to customers in Black Moon and Pure White colors.
The highlight of the Essential Phone is its modularity feature that allows you to attach a 360-degree camera that can be clipped on the device thanks to the magnetic connector. The 360-degree camera capable of shooting UHD (3840 x 1920) video at 30fps.
The company is also offering a charging dock and these accessories connect to the device with small metal pogo pins. The handset does not come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and will ship with a headphone dongle in the box. The device has a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge display with QHD (2560 x 1312 pixels) and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45GHz paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. It sports a titanium and ceramic body that offers it a premium look.
On the camera front, the device flaunts a dual 13MP RGB camera with image fusion technology + 13MP True Monochrome camera with f/1.85 lens, 4K video recording at 30fps, 1080p 60fps and 720p 120fps. It has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with 16:9 aspect ratio f/2.20 fixed hyperfocal lens, 4K video recording at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps or 720p at 120fps.
The Essential Phone comes equipped with 4x microphones with noise cancellation and beam forming. It has a rear fingerprint sensor and packs a 3040mAh battery with fast charging. For connectivity includes 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac with MIMO, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, GLONASS and USB Type C port. It measures 141.5 x 71.1 x 7.8 and weighs 185 grams.
