In an attempt to make a bigger mark in the personal portable audio segment, Thomson has launched the WS04 wireless speaker for EUR 59.99. The device features 20W speakers, Bluetooth and a claimed battery life of up to 8 hours on a full charge.
The Thomson WS04 can also be used as a wireless hands-free unit to make and receive calls, thanks to the addition of a microphone. Audio transmission from a source device is either through Bluetooth or 3.5mm audio-in.
However, the device only supports up to Bluetooth, with no mention of AptX support. The Thomson wireless speaker design is inspired by Scandinavian designers, mix of fabric and wood housing. The speaker additionally features an adjustable equalizer, which is said to give the listener a sense of room-filling sound, despite the compact dimensions of the WS04.
Thomson hopes to take on the likes of Sony, DigiFlip, JBL, Portronics and other similar segment Bluetooth speakers with the WS04. Although it isn’t the first Thomson wireless speaker, the company had also announced the WS05, WS02RSM, WS02N and more recently.
