After the announcement of the 8-Bay TL-D800C and 12-Bay TL-R1200C-RP storage enclosures, QNAP Systems has introduced TS-451DeU NAS server system for rackmount installations. The 1U form factor storage chassis is characterized by reduced depth (295 mm or 12 inches instead of the usual 19).
The QNAP NAS system is based on a dual-core Intel Celeron J4025 processor, operating at a frequency of 2.0-2.9 GHz and standard 2GB DDR4 RAM – expandable up to 8GB. The storage has four bays for 3.5-inch drives with the SATA interface and two 2.5 GbE ports. The aggregation capability provides 5 GB/s bandwidth.
Another advantage is the presence of two slots for M.2 2280 SATA 6 Gb/s solid-state drives. The QNAP NAS also includes two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. Power is provided by an integrated 100 W unit.
The TS-451DeU features a built-in App Center that includes rich install-on-demand apps to increase NAS application potential, such as hosting multiple virtual machines and containers, deploying a cloud storage gateway, using a Plex media server – would be the best NAS for Plex, creating a multi-zone multimedia hub, implementing a professional video surveillance system, and more.
According to the manufacturer, TS-451DeU is “a modern 2.5GbE NAS solution for businesses to tackle everyday tasks like file backup/restore, and to boost team collaboration with higher productivity.” In addition, TS-451DeU can serve as “an ideal multimedia server with the support of video streaming and transcoding.”
