Tamron Introduces 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD Lens for Nikon and Canon

Tamron has introduced a new 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD Lens for Nikon and Canon cameras. The lens was created to meet the demand for a lightweight, compact lens with high-level optical performance.

The front surface of the Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD lens is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water and oil-repellant. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture, and fingerprints. It comes with a newly developed OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) to ensure silent operation.

As mentioned above, Tamron equips this lens with two of its most advanced coatings, the BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating, which prevents lens flare and ghosting. And the Fluorine coating to prevent dust, water, and oil. While the Optimized Silent Drive AF motor ensures quick, quiet, accurate autofocus.

Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD lens which weighs slightly more than a pound, are 15 elements in 10 groups that include four LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to minimize axial chromatic aberrations; and two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lenses maximize sharpness and contrast. The Minimum Object Distance (MOD) for the entire zoom range is a short 0.28m and a large aperture of F/2.8 helps to clear the subject.

In addition, the rounded 7-Blade diaphragm for Canon-mount lenses is employed in Nikon-mount lenses. The Tamron lens has a moisture-resistant construction for greater protection when shooting outdoors. Since this is the dedicated lens for Nikon and Canon, it is very easy to update its firmware to match with the exciting camera firmware when needed. Just connect to TAMRON TAP-in Console (sold separately) enabling you to easily update your lens’s firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF.

Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD Lens is already up for pre-orders via BHPhoto store with a price tag of $599 and will start shipping on September 4, 2018.
