Stable Android Pie Update for HTC U11 Rollout in Taiwan

Almost a month after the forced interruption due to a problem involving the bricking some of the units, HTC has made available a new Android Pie update to its U11. This time also the release is initially limited to the Taiwanese market.

This new system update has a build number almost identical to the one that caused problems. In fact, we move from 3.22.709.2 to 3.22.709.3. The changelog does not specifically report bug fixes, but only a generic update to Android 9.0 Pie, “system improvements” and Google+ from Blinkfeed removed.

The problem of bricking phone has been resolved. According to the source, this is the third rollout of Android Pie update for HTC U11 in Taiwan and this update will be safe to install. The device runs smooth, few changes in UI with different color schemes on the icon, the navigation bar is different, no battery drain issue,

The rollout starting in the domestic market, however, gives new hope for the arrival of Android Pie also in the US market, but at the moment it is not possible to make forecasts of the timing. An encouraging sign remains, also considering the difficulties that HTC has been facing for many quarters to try to stem the negative turnover trend.

After U11, maybe time to HTC’s top range of 2017, it is reasonable to think that even the later HTC U11+ and U12 could start receiving Android Pie updates soon.
