Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact Update: Google Lens in Camera App

Sony has announced the rollout of the new software update dedicated to Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact smartphones, thanks to which you can use Google Lens (including the latest features announced at Google I/O 2018) directly from the camera app.

New update that makes it even more immediate to use the Google Lens functions, compared to the method that provides access to Google Photos and Assistant. Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium could already benefit from the update that the other two exponents of the XZ2 range are receiving the update that has just been released.

Google Lens allows you to identify objects by providing useful information: for example, you can find online products, copy and paste the text, receive information about places, add events to the calendar or identify plants and animals.

To take advantage of these functions directly through the camera app of Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be enough to update the Google app, says Sony, so it is not required to download and install an update OTA. However, the update release may vary in the various markets.

Please note that the latest Google Lens features will be available on more devices able to use them directly from the camera app – on the occasion of the Google I/O reference was made to the LG, Motorola, Xiaomi, Sony, HMD Global, TCL, OnePlus, BQ and Asus, as well as the Google devices.
