Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact Launched at IFA 2016

Sony at IFA 2016 on Thursday expand its X series of smartphones, with two offerings – the Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact. The company isn’t providing more details on pricing, but Xperia XZ will be made available between $450 to $550 and it will be available in September, while the Sony Xperia X Compact around up to $600 and it will go on sale from October 23. Sony Xperia XZ Specifications

The Sony Xperia XZ features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution that can translate a high pixel density of 424ppi. The device has called “Unified Design”, with rounded edges frame design and its housing made of ALKALEIDO aluminum alloy gives it a premium look.

The handset is powered by a 2.1 GHz quad-core processor which supported by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) chipset paired with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 256GB. Sony Xperia XZ

For imaging features, the Xperia XZ flaunts a 23-megapixel primary autofocus camera with Sony  IMX300 sensor, 1/2.3″ size, 6P lens, f/2.0 aperture, Phase detection, Laser sensor and LED flash. The rear camera also able to record 4K(3840×2160) video and features Digital image stabilization, Exposure compensation, ISO control, White balance presets, Shutter speed control, Burst mode, HDR, Panorama, Scenes and much more.

There is a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with with 1/3″ sensor size and 90 degree wide-angle lens to capture wide group selfies and quality video calling. It also comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the side power key to unlock the device quickly.

The handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and packs a 2900mAh battery that is claimed to deliver normal usage time up to 48 hours. For connectivity includes 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, NFC, and 3.5 mm audio jack options.

The Sony Xperia X Compact on the other hand, featuring a 4.6-inch IPS LCD display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution that can convey a pixel density of 319ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 (8956) Hexa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It is accompanied Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded via microSD card up to 256GB.

The Xperia X Compact flaunts a 23-megapixel autofocus rear camera with 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor, 24mm wide lens, hybrid autofocus with Laser, PDAF and LED flash.
