Last month, Sony had announced the MDR-1AM2 Headphones at CES 2018, which is now available to pre-order in UK. This Sony Hi-Res Headphones is the successor of the MDR-1A and perfectly fits into the premium segment and was designed especially for those who listen to high-resolution music.
The Sony MDR-1AM2 headphones are enveloping and dynamic, with newly designed 40mm drivers. The drivers are in LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) coated in aluminum. Then we find neodymium magnets and a special grid to protect the diaphragm, whose structure is based on the Fibonacci sequence. Sony claims that this component guarantees a “neutral” passage of all frequencies: nothing is emphasized or reduced.
The MDR-1AM2 are lighter than the previous model (weigh 187 grams) and used ear-cups designed to guarantee fit and comfort. The extended listening sessions are favored by the padding in low resilience polyurethane foam covered with imitation leather. The specifications report a frequency response that drops to 3Hz, a sensitivity of 98 dB/mW and an impedance of 16ohms. The accessory includes two cables: one standard and one with a 4.4 mm balanced connection.
The Sony MDR-1AM2 price in UK has been set at £230 and it can be pre-ordered through Amazon.co.uk in Black and Silver color options.
