Sony has finally announced a new FE 35mm f/1.8 Lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. It is a branded lens with E-mount mount, compatible with full-frame (FE) viewing angles for Sony A7, A9, APS A6000 cameras, A5000 series or camcorders with similar lens mounts.
The lens stands out with a volume of only 280g, lighter than the Nikon Z’s lens (390g), while having the same length, but shorter diameter due to the smaller E-mount. So this lens will take advantage of the built-in anti-vibration system with the sensors on the A7 II, III or A6500 generations.
The FE 35mm f/1.8 Lens has 11 elements in 9 groups, including one aspherical element to reduce aberration, bringing high resolution and sharpness to the edge of the image. The lens design includes the Linear Response MF rotating control system, including the outer ring and the control system of the inner lens assembly receiving electronic commands. This system offers the smoothness, but also does not lose the feeling of natural hand focusing like mechanical systems. The minimum distance of this lens is 22 cm is also suitable for shooting near objects.
The 35mm focus on a full-frame format (35mm) is always a favorite choice for photographers. Previously, Sony had a Zeiss Sonnar FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA lens, the aperture was a bit modest, and the Zeiss Distagon FE 35mm f / 1.4 ZA version was too large for those who frequently traveled.
