Continued collaboration between IKEA and Sonos, which promised to propose a series of new products from the US company who specialized in speakers, with the giant Swedish furniture style.
So, after ENEBY Bluetooth speakers launched last year, and the first model of the SYMFONISK smart speakers, whose images were leaked a few months ago pending the launch of the product scheduled for August 2019, here comes a table lamp with integrated Wi-Fi speaker. As explained by IKEA, the intent is to create an evocative atmosphere in the home, “furnishing with lights and sounds” at an affordable price”.
The table lamp, which is part of the aforementioned SYMFONISK line, was first 1introduced in Milan and then directly on the IKEA website – a page dedicated to collaboration with Sonos.
The design of the latest IKEA product is decidedly modern: the speaker is housed in the base, while the upper part is dedicated to lighting. As Iina Vuorivirta, one of the designers who designed the lamp pointed out that the idea was to distance yourself from the style that distinguishes many technological products for the home:
“We knew from the start that we wanted to challenge the traditional high-tech aesthetics. The lamp-speaker partly springs from the idea of the fireplace — one single piece that spreads warm light as well as sound.”
As for the rest of the SYMFONISK line, a book-shelf speaker which for now includes the Wi-Fi speaker at a price of $99, while the Table lamp costs $179 and will be sold in August 2019. It will be possible to control it through the Sonos app, being compatible with the products of this manufacturer.
