Sonos launches PlayBase, Base for TV with Sound System

Sonos has announced PlayBase, a base for TV with integrated sound system. The product measures 58 x 720 x 380 mm with a weight of 8.6 kilograms. Sonos PlayBase can support TV’s weight up to 35 kilograms and contains up to ten Class D digital amplifiers in with as many transducers. In fact, there are six mid-range, three tweeters and one woofer with “S” pattern port that pushes air out the left side. 

As per tradition, Sonos implementation is very simple. PlayBase has Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity; and connects to the TV via an optical input. The Autoplay setting allows you to choose whether to automatically play the TV sound through the base. Obviously there is the full support for multi-room Sonos ecosystem. The app for mobile and computer devices (Windows and Mac) allows you to send music to all Sonos products in your home. Through the app, you can also use music services like Spotify.

Sonos PlayBase is also compatible with Trueplay, software can automatically calibrate speakers, optimizing the sound in relation to the characteristics of the surrounding environment. To operate it an iOS device is required. Trueplay plays a series of sounds through PlayBase and will detect them using the microphone placed on Apple devices. Trueplay analyzes room size, layout, décor, speaker placement, and any other acoustic factors that can impact sound quality. Then it literally adjusts how each woofer and tweeter produces sound. 

Sonos had also thought of those looking for a more sophisticated solution for their TVs by adding a subwoofer and two Play:1 sonos speakers is possible to realize a configuration with 5.1-channel. Other features include Night sound setting and Speech enhancement setting (to improve the dialog volume and reduce loud sound effects). The PlayBase will be completed by the Sanus swiveling TV base, an accessory that supports a wide range of TVs (from 32″ to 62″ with a maximum weight of 27 kilograms) up to 20 cm above the PlayBase and allows rotation of up to 20-degrees. 

Sonos PlayBase price in USA is $699 and it will be available in White and Black color options via Amazon.com.
