Sigma adds 45mm f/2.8 DG DN, 35mm f/1.2 DG DN, and 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Lenses: Price and Availability

Sigma has announced the addition of three new lenses for the full-frame L-Mount and Sony’s E-mount system, the 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary, 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art, and 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art lenses.

The new Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG DN Art and the 45mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens for full-frame Sony, Leica, and Panasonic mirrorless cameras, while the 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art for Panasonic, Leica L-mount and Sony E-mounts.

Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG DN Art

It is a wide-angle AF lens with F1.2 maximum aperture for the full-frame Sony E-mount and L-Mount system. It is an ultra-fast semi-wide-angle prime lens, which Sigma claims can resolve over 50 million pixels, the minimum focus distance is 30cm (~11″), with a max magnification of 0.2x.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art Lens features Sigma’s first prime lens design with an f/1.2 maximum aperture. The lens’ fast f/1.2 aperture helps to achieve shallow depth of field as well as extremely selective focus effects and is also suited for working in very difficult lighting conditions. Three low dispersion glass elements and three aspherical elements, including a double-sided element, effectively control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering.

Front lens element has been treated with a water- and oil-repellent coating to benefit working in harsh environmental conditions. Weather-resistant construction with a brass bayonet that affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity. The filter ring of the new 35mm F1.2 is supersized too, at 82mm, thanks to that massive front element.

Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art Lens has been priced at $1,499 and is already up for pre-orders through Bhphotovideo.com.

Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art

Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art is a definitive lens for astrophotography and emphasizes its outstanding resolution to the edges of the frame, achieved in part thanks to the inclusion of low dispersion elements and Sigma’s Nano Porous Coating (NPC), according to Sigma.

This lens is also distinguished by its fast f/2.8 constant maximum aperture to suit working in available lighting conditions. A series of low dispersion and aspherical elements are used to minimize both chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range in order to achieve high sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy.

It is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras to deliver excellent image quality while optimizing size and weight. It is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides a 21-36mm equivalent focal length range. Constant f/2.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in available light conditions and provides greater control over depth of field.

It has a Super Multi-Layer Coating combined with a Nano Porous Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting. It’s weather-resistant construction with a brass bayonet that affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art Lens has been priced at $1,399 and is already up for pre-orders through Bhphotovideo.com.

Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary

Sigma 45mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens is a compact, standard prime lens for full-frame Sony, Leica and Panasonic mirrorless cameras. It is a normal-length prime that optimizes size as well as a weight while rendering notably smooth bokeh with rounded out-of-focus highlights in both the foreground and background.

The lens is just 46mm long and weighs 215g, but still has a metal lens barrel and weather-sealing. It contains eight elements, a seven-blade aperture, and 24cm minimum focus distance. The 45mm has an aperture ring, as well. It is equipped with a stepping motor that enables smooth, high-speed autofocusing that is notably quiet whether utilizing features such as Face/Eye Detection AF or during video shooting. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to the smooth bokeh, and a lens hood is included, which can protect the front element as well as prevent stray light from causing a flare.

This prime lens is designed to deliver excellent image quality while optimizing size and weight. It is also suitable for APS-C models where it provides a 68mm equivalent focal length. Constant f/2.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in available light conditions and provides greater control over depth of field.

Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens has been priced at $549 and is already up for pre-orders through Bhphotovideo.com.
