Sennheiser HD 820 Closed-back Headphones With Gorilla Glass Transducer Cover at CES 2018

Sennheiser at CES 2018 has unveiled the HD 820 headphones, audiophile headphones that are clearly positioned in the high-end range, that is the highest ever. The Sennheiser HD 820 is closed-back dynamic headphones.

This new Sennheiser features a robust metal headband with an inner damping element, and silver-cladded OFC cables and gold-plated plugs. Meanwhile, the earpads have been handcrafted from high-quality non-allergic synthetic leather and microfiber to cushion and insulate the listener from ambient noise.

Sennheiser HD 820 is closed-back headphones deliver astonishingly transparent sound, thanks to a unique glass transducer cover that minimizes resonances. The curved Gorilla glass serves to reflect the sound waves from the rear of the transducer to two absorber chambers, which results in minimal resonance.

The technical specifications show an impedance of 300 Ohms, a frequency response of 12 – 43,800 Hz (-3 dB) / 6 – 48,000 Hz (-10 dB) and 103dB sound pressure. Supplied with an unbalanced cable with a 6.3 mm jack and a balanced cable with a 4.4 mm Pentacomm jack.

The Sennheiser HD 820 price is around US$2,399 and will be available from early summer 2018.
