SanDisk Industrial SD, microSD, Industrial XI SD, and Automotive SD Cards Announced

SanDisk expands its already popular SD and microSD card catalog designed for extreme use. New SanDisk microSD card series includes Automotive SD, Industrial SD, Industrial microSD and Industrial XI SD which are designed for work in extreme temperatures for prolonged amounts of time, integrate health status monitor capability, special data retention mechanisms and some are compliant with the AEC-Q100 Grade 3 standard.

SanDisk Industrial SD and microSD
New SanDisk SD and microSD cards series are faster than their predecessors thus enabling them to handle tasks like surveying commercial drones and automobile dash cameras. As mentioned above, new SanDisk card series includes four new models which differ in very features. The Automotive SD card line-up is aimed at cars, drones, other vehicles and they come in capacitive ranging from 8GB to 64GB, and they are AEC-Q100 Grade 3 compliant. These SanDisk Automotive SD cards can function in prolonged time even in extreme temperatures between -40ºC and 85ºC.

The SanDisk Industrial SD and microSD card variants with capacities of 8GB to 64GB for SD and microSD from 8GB to 128GB. These can also withhold mildly extreme temperatures ranging from -25ºC to 85ºC. Talking about the performance, these can read files at 80 MB/s and write at 50 MB/s which is a significant 20 MB/s improvement over the previous generation.

Meanwhile, the SanDisk Industrial XI SD card will work in extreme -40 ºC conditions. All these SD cards also support Power Protection capability, which prevents data from being corrupted during a write when the power supply is unstable or unexpectedly lost. There is also Read Refresh feature which helps to keep the data fresh and accurate when needs to be accessed and it can even function in circumstances where data is not being accessed for a long time. The Read Disturbance feature protects against read-intense cells.

The Host Lock feature enables customers to set up passwords for their cards and prevent them from reading on non-native hosts. SanDisk has not yet announced the prices of the new Industrial cards, it is likely to be higher than other high-end SD and microSD cards considering the technical features. The average user probably will not feel any need to buy them unless the high-temperature swing resistance is a priority.
