Samsung launches a new, small and smart device called SmartThings Tracker which function is very simple: to help and keep track of our most valued items.
The Samsung SmartThings Tracker is an IP68 certified device connected via LTE-M network (only for AT&T at the moment) that can be attached with a drawstring to a backpack, a suitcase or to the house keys (but also to the collars of our pet) to keep track of the object or of our pet via GPS.
The movements and position are monitored in real time through the SmartThings app for Android and iOS: Samsung suggests to use the tracker also to stay connected to their loved ones such as our family members can also use this Tracker to stay connected by sending a location notification to the SmartThings app that alerts the rest of the family of their whereabouts.
As mentioned, the connection is made via the LTE-M network, which is able to accurately identify the position of the tracker even when in closed or underground. Localization updates take place in real time: just press the power button twice to send a notification via the app.
If you want to know the position of an object to which the tracker is attached, simply open the app and receive information on the movement for a maximum time of 10 minutes. It is also possible to define a specific area outside of which the device sends an acoustic signal: this is particularly useful in case you want to monitor the movements of your pet.
In addition, It also works as a proximity sensor, for example, to trigger smart home automation, like lights turning on/off because it is also compatible with hundreds of Works With SmartThings devices, including smart lights, thermostats, security cameras and more.
Samsung SmartThings Tracker price has been set at $99.99 and it is already available to pre-order through Amazon store and will be released on September 30, 2018.
