QNAP TS-x53D NAS Series with PCIe, HDMI, and 2.5GbE Ports

QNAP has introduced a new powerful NAS series. The QNAP TS-x53D network attached storage available in 2, 4, and 6-bay models: TS-253D-4G, TS-453D-4G, TS-453D-8G, TS-653D-4G, TS-653D-8G come with two 2.5GbE ports and can be upgraded via a PCIe slot. HDMI is also integrated and the operation of virtual machines is also possible.

According to the manufacturer, the TS-x53D series are all based on the Celeron J4125 from Intel. It comes with four computing cores, with the maximum clock speed being specified at 2.7 GHz. The models are available with up to eight gigabytes of RAM, whereby the individual models also differ in the number of drive bays.

The QNAP TS-253D with its four gigabytes of RAM only accepts two 3.5 or 2.5-inch drives, the QNAP TS-453D and the QNAP TS-653D four or six. The latter two variants are available with a four or eight gigabyte RAM. The connection to a network is made via two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, in addition, there are two USB 2.0 and three USB 3.0 ports, for example for connecting external hard drives.

The QNAP NAS is also expandable: specifically, a single PCIe Gen 2 port with up to four lanes is available. A network card or an SSD can be installed in this. Upon request, the QNAP TS-x53D NAS can also function as a media center for high-resolution content, for which an HDMI 2.0 port is available. As usual, not only the storage of files and their central accessibility by the NAS is possible, so extensive backup plans should also be created. The use as cloud storage is supported as well as the execution of virtual machines and the establishment of a center for video surveillance.
