QNAP TS-230 NAS Home Media Server Hub Announced

QNAP Systems introduces new lightweight, quiet and multifunctional Home Media Server – QNAP TS-230, according to the manufacturer. The QNAP NAS Home Media Hub painted in blue color, fits well into residential interiors.

It can serve as a means of centralized storage and backup of files, sharing photos and videos. And the presence of multimedia applications and transcoding functions allows you to use the TS-230 as an entertainment center.

The TS-230 is based on the quad-core Realtek RTD1296 processor operating at 1.4 GHz and having 2 GB of DDR4 RAM. The storage has two bays for drives of standard size 3.5 inches or 2.5 inches with the SATA 6 Gb/s interface. It supports AES-256 encryption and SSD caching. Installing and removing hard drives does not require the use of tools.

The home media server is cooled by an 80 mm fan, the noise level of which does not exceed 15 dBA. In addition to the Gigabit Ethernet network port, there are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and one USB 2.0 port. The storage runs under the QTS operating system, which implements storage and file sharing, backup, synchronization, and data protection.

Users can back up Windows or macOS data regularly while using the HBS application to back up QNAP NAS data to the myqnapcloud. It is possible to create several versions of snapshots, which speeds up data recovery for a certain period. Among the QTS features, the manufacturer distinguishes Qfiling functions for automatic file organization, Qsirch for quickly searching for specific files or images by keyword or color, Qsync for synchronizing files between multiple devices.

Earlier this month, QNAP Systems has introduced TS-451DeU NAS server system for rackmount installations. The 1U form factor storage chassis is characterized by reduced depth (295 mm or 12 inches instead of the usual 19). Priced at $599 and it can be purchased through Bhphotovideo.com.
