Porsche Design BOOK ONE 2-in-1 Laptop goes Official at MWC 2017

Who would have ever expected that Porsche Design would produce a rival of Surface Book? Yet, at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona it has happened too. To be precise is called Porsche Design BOOK ONE, has high-end specifications and a highly sophisticated hinge – design perhaps even more than the Microsoft product, since it also allows you to rotate display at 360 degrees angles. 

The entire chassis of the Porsche Design BOOK ONE is made of aluminum with a truly remarkable anodized matte finish; the processor is an Intel Core i7-7500U Kaby Lake, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. The display size is 13.3-inches with IPS panel and resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels. Of course, the operating system is Windows 10; Microsoft has even collaborated with the company to design it.

The choice of ports does not really leaves nothing to be desired: there are 2 x USB Type-C, 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A and 1 x Type-C USB 3.1 port that supports Thunderbolt 3. The camera is 5 megapixels, with infrared sensor to use Windows Hello.

The keyboard / dock is backlit with well separated keys, and huge Touchpad. It also includes a built-in battery that leads to provide up to 14 hours of usage time with laptop mode (the tablet has only 5 hours). There is even a stylus, also designed by Porsche, with 2048 pressure levels and connects magnetically to the side of the keyboard. It is also made in aluminum, it is 14cm long and weighs 19 grams. 

Coming to Porsche Design BOOK ONE price is high, but not super high about 2,795 Euros – approximately $2961 USD, quite reasonable compared to the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design. It weighs 1580 grams (758g tablet only), including in the package a lot of accessories, dongles and capacitive pen.
