Pioneer has announced two new mid-range AV receivers in its VSX line-up – VSX-832 and VSX – 932, 5.1 -channel and 7.2-channel respectively. The release date is scheduled for May in Europe, and pricing is tentatively set at 499 Euro for VSX-832 and 599 Euro for the VSX-932. While the Pioneer VSX-832 is available to buy in USA via Amazon.com for $479 and will ship this month.
Both Pioneer AV receivers develop 130 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 1.0%, 1 channel driven). The supported formats are the same as LX302: you can play the tracks in DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and Dolby Atmos. User can experience a multi-dimensional sound field in 3.1.2-channel or 2.1.2-channel layouts without need of in-ceiling speakers. The 7.2-channel Pioneer VSX-932, meanwhile, plays these spatially mixed movie soundtrack formats through a 5.2.2-channel layout.
The Pioneer VSX-832 is referred to 3.1.2, with Surround Enhancer technology creates “virtual” surround speakers with DSP algorithms that exploit this principle and Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF). The technology works effectively not only for Dolby Atmos formats, but also with conventional audio encoded on DVD or CD upmixed for playback through a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker system.
There is also Reflex Optimizer technology available, designed to optimize reflection of the sounds on the ceiling. It resolves this phase lag and optimizes the performance of Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers for clear sound imaging at the viewing position. Sound from Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers integrates seamlessly with that from the floor speakers for a clear and comfortable sound field.
Multimedia functions are quite similar to LX302, both VSX-832 and VSX-932 feature a high-grade 384 kHz/32-bit DAC (AK4438) from AKM, which lets you play 192 kHz/24-bit FLAC, WAV, AIFF, and ALAC along with DSD 2.8 MHz/5.6 MHz. The multi-room audio support via using FireConnect technology. The music playback can be controlled via your Android and iOS devices using Pioneer Remote app.
There is also support for DTS Play-Fi and Chromecast Audio functionality. By connecting to the network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi), you can also access Internet radio and streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, TuneIn and Tidal. The Pioneer VSX-832 and VSX-932 are also provided with the MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System), creates an ideal listening environment in media rooms and entertainment spaces.
The video section can count on HDMI 2.0a inputs with HDCP 2.2, compatible with Ultra HD resolution signals up to 60Hz. Guaranteed support for expanded color spaces (Rec.2020), in HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The amplifiers can also use Super Resolution is a 4K video upscaling technology suited to HD sources.
For connectivity, both AV receivers with Chromecasts, WiFi and Bluetooth functionality. The front part includes one USB, MCACC Setup MIC, one Audio Input and one phones output, while rear has four HDMI in, one HDMI out, Ethernet, USB, two AV, one coaxial, and one optical.
