Philips Smart TV Starts Receiving Android 7.0 Nougat Update

Philips announced the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its 2016 and 2017 Smart TVs. The update will roll out gradually,  and it will take many weeks – or months.

Android 7.0 on Philips Smart TVs will bring many new features. First of all, there is an improved overall system and all general Android features will be implemented in it. It will also support multiple Google Accounts, picture-in-picture mode while using apps, and the ability to leverage Chromecast features (integrated with Android TV) even with Ultra HD videos.

Other features include HDR and Dolby Digital Plus support for Amazon Prime Video. Comes compatibility with HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), the HDR format developed for television and back-compatible transmissions. Android 7.0 upgrades can be downloaded directly from your Philips Smart TV connected to the network.
