Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome is now available for Pre-order

Ricoh has introduced a new digital SLR camera Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome, which is finally available for pre-order at the B&H photo store. Pentax K3 III Monochrome is designed exclusively for black and white photography.

Pentax K3 III Monochrome

According to Ricoh, most cameras capture images in color and then convert them to black and white when processed on a computer. In contrast, the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome sensor captures the brightness of each pixel, providing a unique image character.

But it is worth considering that the Pentax K3 Monochrome is not the first camera with an exclusively black and white sensor, it was the first b/w DSLR, but not the first monochrome camera – since mirrorless cameras such as the Leica Q2 have been on the market for a long time, M10 Monochrom, and recently introduced M11 Monochrom from Leica.

The latest Pentax K3 III Monochrome features a 25.7-megapixel monochrome sensor, a white-backlit top LCD screen, a new color scheme for the main menu, and monochrome graphics on the camera body.

Unsurprisingly, the K-3 Mark III Monochrome is based on the existing Pentax K-3 Mark III, Pentax’s flagship APS-C format DSLR, and features a new 25.7-megapixel monochrome image sensor. Pentax has made several changes to reflect the camera’s monochromatic capabilities. The LCD panel now has a white backlight, and the menu screen has a default black-and-white visual scheme. The icons printed on the buttons and switches of the camera are in three shades of gray instead of the normal color.

The new Pentax K3 III Monochrome camera also includes three exclusive Custom Image modes for black-and-white photography. In addition to the “Standard” mode, the camera includes a “Hard” mode for high-contrast photography and a “Soft” mode for capturing bright, low-contrast images. Each mode can be adjusted in terms of tone, tone, contrast, and sharpness.

Price and release date

The Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome is available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com for a suggested retail price of $2,199.95.
