Pentax officially announced the Pentax K-1 Mark II Full Frame DSLR camera. Compared to the previous Mark I, new DSLR comes with updated image processing parameters that improve data processing performance, so it can shoot at a higher ISO setting.
Pentax also adds new effective image stabilization and more can be taken in Super Resolution mode without a tripod. From May 21st to September 30th, 2018, Pentax will open K-1 to K-1 II upgrade program for $550. You can send your camera to the authorized Pentax center.
The upgrade will include a main circuit board swap, and the ‘SR’ logo on the front of the camera will be replaced with a Mark II logo. The upgraded circuit board will add all of the features introduced in the Mark II, such as shooting at up to ISO 819,200 and an updated Pixel Shift mode.
Pentax K-1 Mark II uses the same full-frame Anti-aliasing (AA)-filterless CMOS sensor with 36.4 megapixels. However, Ricoh has added a new accelerator unit to the K-1 Mark II that – along with the camera’s PRIME IV image processor that enables it to produce high-resolution images with minimal noise in even in the most challenging low-light conditions, up to ISO 819200.
Pentax does not have a hardware upgrade that improves processing algorithms, and this is Shake Reduction II. From the SR II, Pentax also upgraded the high-resolution shooting mode to Pixel Shift Resolution System II. This mode allows users to shoot 54MP images from the 36MP sensor of K-1 II. Especially now you can capture this mode manually instead of tripod as before.
