Patriot’s VPR100 is designed to combine a high data rate with dedicated and addressable RGB lighting – however, users have to choose one of the two advantages in some ways.
The Patriot Viper RGB VPR100 is mini PCIe NVMe SSD with the height specified by the manufacturer to be 0.7 centimeters only. The width is given as 2.5 centimeters.
The PCIe gen3 model is connected via four PCIe 3.0 lanes using the NVMe protocol in version 1.3, the maximum data transfer rate should be read at the model with two terabytes of memory at up to 3,300 MB / s read and 2,900 MB / s write, the values for the ATTO benchmark and with RGB lighting disabled.
If the RGB lighting of the M.2 PCIe SSD is activated, the power should be reduced by 20 to 30 percent. Experience shows that this drop in performance should only be noticeable in extreme situations.
The Patriot Viper RGB VPR100 mini PCIe NVMe SSD has already been available to buy on Amazon.com carrying a $94.99 price tag for the 256GB and $134.99 for 512GB model.
