OnePlus 8 has already been leaked in its first rumors, a few days after the official launch of the OnePlus 7T. The leak report via the Cashkaro website is a source that on other occasions has proved to be reliable, namely OnLeaks. The render images of the next flagship of the Chinese manufacturer were made starting from CAD files, so they are able to offer a fairly faithful view of the device design and dimensions.
One of the elements that capture the most attention by observing the front is represented by the punch hole positioned in the upper left of the display. A solution already adopted by other manufacturers to allow the front camera to be housed without taking up too much screen space, but which would be new to OnePlus (the recent OnePlus 7T, as well as OnePlus 7, uses a classic notch, while OnePlus 7 Pro to a popup camera.
The images also show a display with curved edges – according to the source, the display size is about 6.5-inches – while the rear has a triple camera setup and, slightly below the LED flash. The arrangement of the components at the rear is very similar to that of the OnePlus 7 Pro – see the three lenses positioned vertically – and does not incorporate the circular element that encloses the OnePlus 7T triple camera.
The size of the smartphone would be 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1 mm (9.3 mm camera at the rear). To have a benchmark, OnePlus 7 Pro measures 162.6 × 75.9 × 8.8mm, while OnePlus 7T 160.9 x 74.4 x 8.1mm.
There is also another information provided by the source and it is not trivial, although it cannot be confirmed by the images: OnePlus 8 would be the first smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer with support for wireless charging. The company has repeatedly stated that it would use this technology only when it became mature enough, and time seems to have arrived.
Given the recent introduction of OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 8 will not arrive before 2020. It cannot be excluded that in this time frame the manufacturer decides to make further refinements to the project.
