Android 8.0 Oreo update will soon arrive on OnePlus 5 and the newly introduced OnePlus 5T. The company is already testing the first beta builds, and an official release scheduled from the beginning of 2018. Carl Pei himself, founder and CEO of a Chinese company, said during the presentation of the 5T, which was held in New York yesterday.
OnePlus 5 will get the Android Oreo Open Beta update this November. While the OnePlus 5T will get Android Oreo Open Beta in late December. Yoon said that the company doesn’t want to offer buggy Android Oreo at that launch for the 5T so it is running on Nougat currently.
Pei has not dealt much more with what the update will contain, but it is difficult to discern much from that for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, already available in the public beta.
Coming to Android Oreo stable update via OTA, OnePlus 5 will get the OTA update in early 2018 and the 5T should also get it at the same time. It is not clear if the OnePlus 3 and 3T will get the final Android Oreo update at that same time.
OnePlus 5 is available online from Amazon store at $529.99 / £549.99 in US and UK respectively.
