Nokia 2 will not be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo instead of will go directly to Android 8.1 Oreo, according to a recent tweet by Juho Sarvikas – Chief Product Officer of HDM Global – in which the reasons for this choice are explained.
The question arose following a tweet from a user who asked for updates about the possibility that will Nokia 2 receives Oreo?. Sarvikas has confirmed the arrival of the next major update, adding that the version 8.0 will be skipped to go directly to Android 8.1 Oreo since this release is designed to better support devices with 1GB of RAM.
Hi! It will receive Android Oreo. 1GB RAM devices will be supported on 8.1 release where many of the Android Go memory management improvements will be integrated. Nokia 2 performance will only get better over time!

This is the fact that Android 8.1 Oreo integrates many of the solutions designed for Android Go, with which the RAM management processes have been improved. However, Sarvikas emphasized that this does not mean that Nokia 2 will belong to the Android Go program, but will still be able to reap all the benefits.
Recall that Nokia 2 has been priced at $99.99 only and can be purchased via Amazon.com in Black, White and Copper color variants. Nokia 2 features a 5.0-inch LTPS HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3; a 1.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor paired with Adreno 304 GPU; 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 8GB of internal storage with microSD card slot.
