The launch of the Microsoft Surface Laptop with Windows 10 S brings several exciting possibilities to the table. One of these is more affordable laptops in the market, which means that more people can buy laptops. The Surface Laptop price in USA is starting from $999, and is made available in four color options – Burgundy, Graphite Gold, Platinum, and Cobalt Blue. It can be pre-ordered through Amazon store, and will be shipped starting June 15, 2017.
Microsoft is looking to compete with Chromebooks in the education sector, however, current surface laptop price range, direct competition will be impossible.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Specifications
The Surface Laptop has portable, durable, and lightweight design with a premium finish, and the iconic Alcantra fabric keyboard following its previous Surface Pro 4 traditions. The display is a 13.5-inches with PixelSense touchscreen, 1080p resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, and 3.4 million pixels.
The base model of the Surface Laptop is powered by the 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD storage, while users can opt for an Intel Core i7 processor and different 4GB 8GB / 16GB / memory and 512GB / 256GB / 128GB storage configurations.
Microsoft says it has a battery life of up to 14.5 hours, an impressive number. To make it easy to compare, Apple advertises the battery life of the MacBook Pro is 10 hours, the MacBook Air is 12 hours. Microsoft has used vapor chambers as heat pipes at the back of the surface laptop to help keep components cool. It comes with no holes design and the speakers were placed below the keyboard.

The Surface laptop comes with Windows Ink, Windows Hello support and running Windows 10 S, which can only run apps from the Windows Store. For ports, including a USB port, a mini DisplayPort, the Surface power connector, SD card slot, and the 3.5mm audio jack. The device weighs only 1.25kg, and thickness ranges from 9.9mm to 14.47mm.
