The Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 generation comes with all the features that one has already come from the predecessor, including the Active Noise Cancelling headphone feature. But they should sound even better and support aptX, the battery lasts longer and the price has also been reduced.
The Surface headset looks quite similar to their predecessors, except for the chic new color in Matte Black, which is now available in addition to Light Gray. This new Noise Cancelling headset offers 13 levels of noise adjustment by simply turning the wheel around the ear cup. In this new Microsoft headphones, ANC should above all be able to hide human voices even more effectively.
The wheel on the other side is used to control the volume. The large surface on the outside reacts to touch, so that playback can be paused or a call answered. The new ear cups can be turned 180 degrees, which should be particularly pleasant when the Noise Cancelling headphone is not in use and is worn on the neck.
Microsoft promises better audio quality, but the company continues to rely on 40 mm Free Edge drivers, so the improvements are probably due to the new Bluetooth 5.0 chip, which supports Qualcomm aptX in addition to the SBC codec from the predecessor.
The battery life of the headphones has been increased from 15 to 20 hours, up to 20 hours of battery life when connected via Bluetooth with active noise canceling or up to 20 hours of battery life when Cortana voice activation is deactivated. The Surface Audio app is required to change the settings for Surface Headphones.
