Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL with 20MP PureView Camera, 4K video, Windows Continuum and Hello Launched

Microsoft today unveiled their most awaited two new smartphones with Windows 10 Mobile named Lumia 950 and 950 XL. As the name suggests, the Lumia 950 will be the device which comes with a smaller 5.2-inch screen while the Lumia 950 XL with a 5.7-inch bigger screen size, both of devices uses an OLED display with WQHD 1440×2560 pixels resolution. Both are owned special technologies such as liquid cooling Windows Continuum and Windows Hello. While on camera, both have 20MP optical stabilization, triple LED flash, 4K video, separate camera button, 2 antennas and fast charging. 

The Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL own exterior design and similar materials composition. That means we have two candy bar style Windows 10 smartphones with metal rim, back has a very big camera cluster that gives both very strong look (950 XL camera design is more delicate than 950) – it has a similar style to the old Lumia 930. The right side of both still have a familiar button layout from the previous Lumia line as volume controls, unlock button and a very special button to activate the camera – a very dramatic change in the design of the Lumia line from Microsoft.

The camera is always the most prominent point on the Lumia line and these two high-end Lumia 950 and 950 XL are no exception. Both are equipped with PureView 20-megapixel primary camera, uses a Carl Zeiss lens with three RGB LED flashlights and 5th generation advanced Optical Image Stabilization Technology. Microsoft promises that the both Windows 10 smartphone will have the ability to capture bright pictures in low-light conditions with unbelievable quality. In addition, the primary camera of Lumia 950 and 950 XL can also able to record 4K video.

On the Lumia 950 and 950 XL Windows Phone have an infrared camera in the front that can help to both identify the user’s face accurately and unlock the device. Microsoft called Windows Hello, this feature requires latest software and hardware, so only the new devices will be able to use it. Windows Hello is an authentic system which is Integrated into the Windows 10 operating system, simply wake up your device, look directly at the screen, and infrared camera technology automatically authenticates your identity. With that Windows 10 device users – including desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone, can quickly unlock the device, log on to applications, websites and services without a password.

Microsoft Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL also support Windows Continuum Technology which comes with a separate accessory called Display Dock. Continuum will connect Lumia 950 or 950 XL to a Display Dock and do more with an external monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. In the future, it will feature HDMI connectivity will be available only in high-end models.
