Metabones 1.26x Expander and Lens Adapter for Nikon F Mount to Fuji GFX Camera

Metabones has announced a product called the 1.26x Expander. This is an adapter that allows you to use Nikon F mount lenses with Fuji GFX mid-format cameras. The adapter performs not only mechanical but also optical matching, increasing the circle of the image so that it covers the entire frame of the Fuji GFX, which is known to be more than the full-frame that Nikon lenses are designed for.

The 1.26x Expander is compatible with Nikkor G, AF-D, AI-P, AIS, AI, and non-AI lenses. It is made of aluminum alloy and chrome-plated brass and has a detachable foot for mounting on a tripod. Its optical design has five elements in three groups. The Expander uses manual aperture adjustment within 8-stops. The mechanism changes the aperture without clicks, which is convenient in the case of video.

An increase in focal length by 1.26 times is accompanied by a decrease in the maximum aperture by 2/3 EV, that is to say, a 24–70 mm f/2.8 lens becomes equivalent to a 30–88 mm f/3.5 lens, and 50mm f/1.4 – to the 63mm f / 1.8 lens.

Metabones does not recommend the use of APS-C lenses with the adapter, since significant vignetting may occur. Also, lenses with an electromagnetic iris control (Nikkor E) and image stabilization are not supported.

Metabones has also announced the Lens Adapter for Nikon F mount, G-Type Lens to Fuji GFX GFX camera. It is designed to support focusing to infinity and is constructed from aluminum alloy with brass mounting rings to prevent wear-and-tear while providing a durable, yet lightweight camera-to-lens connection.

This Lens Adapter does not support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. The aperture dial is designed to provide aperture control with full-stop increments for Nikon G-type lenses that do not have an aperture ring. Nikon AI or many post-Nikon AI lenses can have their aperture settings widened or narrowed using their built-in aperture control rings if preferred.

The Metabones 1.26x Expander and Lens Adapter can already be purchased via the Bhphotovideo.com store for $519 and $179, respectively.
