Last year, there were launched a huge number of smart phones with dual camera, starting with the flagship iPhone 7 Plus, Huawei P10 and LG G5 models from lesser known brands. To follow the new trend the MediaTek company has introduced a new Helio P25 mobile processor, designed specifically for smart phones with dual camera.
This chipset is an upgraded version of last year’s Helio P20 and includes a separate 12-bit dual ISP which offers support for up to 24-megapixel single camera or dual 13-megapixel cameras. New MediaTek Helio P25 is dual camera-optimised and comes with features like Colour, Mono de-noise, and real-time shallow DoF bokeh effect. The new chip supports video HDR with full preview and also comes with high performance auto exposure.
“MediaTek Helio P25 paves the way for high-resolution and feature-rich smartphone cameras that enable amazing static shots, 4K and 2K videos. Supporting two cameras up to 13-megapixels each, the MediaTek Helio P25 redefines expectations for mobile photography and our multimedia features like, MediaTek MiraVision technology, continuously enhance visual user-experiences.” – said by the Jeoffrey Yu, Executive vice-president and managing co-director of the MediaTek.
New Helio P25 chipset is made on 16-nm process technology and FinFET includes eight cores Cortex-A53 with maximum clock speed of 2.5 GHz. For the graphics, inside it ARM Mali-T880 dual GPU clocked at up to 900MHz, which according to the company is perfect for demanding video and gaming apps.
Additionally, the chipset supports up to 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM type, thereby increasing output by up to 70 percent compared to the previous generation. Thus the energy efficiency has been improved by about 20 percent. Helio P25 also supports high-speed Internet access in LTE networks (modulation up to 64 QAM, LTE-TDD standard) and supports Envelope Tracking Modulator technology that provides greater performance with less heat.
