MacBook Pro 2019 Raises the Specs: 13 and 15-inch with Touch Bar, 9th Gen Core i9 CPU: Price, Availability

Apple has updated the configuration for MacBook Pro 2019 with Touch Bar in both 13″ and 15″ variants. Notably, the highest configuration version of the MacBook Pro 15-inch uses 9th Generation Intel Core i9 processor with 8 cores, optional Radeon Pro Vega 20 graphics card.

Compared to last year, Apple brings up the MacBook Pro 2019 sooner than expected. The starting price of the MacBook Pro 15 series remains the same from $2,399. Apple uses a 2.6-GHz Core i7-9750H six-core processor, with a boost of 4.5 GHz with 16GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a Radeon 555X graphics card. The MacBook Pro 15 series with a 6-core starting CPU does not have a Vega graphics card option.

If you want to use the optional Vega graphics card 16 or 20, you need to choose the version from $2,799 using Core i9-9880H eight-core processor 2.3 GHz – turbo boost 4.8 GHz, Radeon Pro 560X graphics card with 512GB SSD. Options for both MacBook Pro 15 versions are 2.4 GHz eight-core Core i9-9980HK CPUs – turbo boost of 5 GHz.

Apple also introduced a new CPU configuration for the MacBook Pro 2019 13-inch with Touch bar, but they raised the price by $100. The CPU used for this version is clocked at 2.4 GHz four-cores – turbo boost 4.1 GHz, Core i7 version has 2.8 GHz 4 core clock – turbo boost of 4.7 GHz (pending code detection). It can be seen that the new CPU on the new MacBook Pro 13 Touch Bar has a significantly higher turbo boost rate than before, although the graphics and RAM LPDDR3 have not been upgraded yet.

A butterfly keyboard on MacBook Pro 2019 has also been improved after incidents that many customers encountered on previous generations. Of course, the company did not disclose details of the keyboard improvements of these products and it is not clear whether the new keyboard will be applied to other models. Apple has not yet updated the configuration for the MacBook Pro 13 version without Touch Bar since the latest update in 2017.

The MacBook Pro 15-inch version with 8-core CPU delivers twice as fast performance as the fastest 4-core CPU version before. Apple has included several numbers such as a 75% increase in Photoshop performance, 65% faster use of Xcode, 50% faster TetrUSS applications, and a Final Cut Pro X application that can edit up to 11 4K multi-channel video streams.

Thus, the MacBook Pro 2019 only focuses on upgrading to the CPU. With graphics, the sale of a separate eGPU line in partnership with BlackMagic is probably still an option for those with higher graphics needs.

MacBook Pro 2019 Price and Availability

Starting at $1,799 and $2,399 respectively, the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and 15-inch MacBook Pro were already up for pre-orders through Bhphotovideo.com store.
