M9S Z8 Android TV Box: Same Design as NVIDIA Shield, Priced at $59

China-based company has launched a very affordable Android TV Box – M9S Z8, which allows users to surf the web and play games on their television sets and runs Android 5.1 with Kodi media center can be used for playing audio and video files, at a price of $59.99 in the USA. 

This M9S Z8 Android TV Box is very similar to NVIDIA Shield console in term of style and design only, whereas the Shield supports NVIDIA games and runs Google’s Android TV along with streaming PC games over your home network or over the web, while the Z8 is a digital media device runs a customized version of Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with Kodi media center pre-installed, which allows users to access content like videos, games and websites using 5G WiFi connection.

The M9S Z8 is a standalone box running on Android Box, and can be used to stream 4K (UHD)video content. According to the company, the Z8 can stream 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) content at 60 frames per second, and supports HDMI 2.0 is the latest version of HDMI cables, which is required to connect the Z8 to an HDR-capable Smart TV. 

The Z8 is powered by a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor based on Amlogic S905 CPU along with a Mali-450 GPU. It packs in 2GB of RAM and bears a 16GB of native storage. It has the ability to cast Netflix, Show box, BT sports, Sky sports and YouTube videos for playing content, and stream content directly from smartphone or laptop.

The M9S Z8 also has a Smart Interface for users similar to Google Play store to play their favorite games and applications for easily. You can also download content from the company’s own dedicated M9S app store. 

The Android TV Box has microSD card reader, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, as well as IR port. The device connects to the internet using Gigabit Ethernet, as well as 5G WiFi which can be improve the internet speed and performance.
