LG V40 ThinQ With Five Cameras, 6.4-inch QHD+ Display, SD 845 Launched

As expected since mid-September, LG has finally announced new V40 ThinQ flagship smartphone at an event held in New York on Tuesday. The LG V40 ThinQ smartphone was launched with up to five cameras, notch display with the hide option and powerful specifications.

The LG V40 ThinQ will be available via various mobile operators in the country. It is available from Verizon USA starting at $40.83 a month for 24 months or $979.99 in retail from October 18. Sprint is offering it at $20 per month plan that comes to around $960, starting October 19th. T-Mobile offers it for $30 a month for 24 months (FRP: $920) from October 19th. The handset comes in New Aurora Black, New Platinum Gray, New Moroccan Blue, and Carmine Red color options.

The LG V40 ThinQ features a 6.4-inch FullVision OLED Display with QHD+ (3120 × 1080 pixels) resolution, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with Adreno 630 GPU and 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It packs a 64GB / 128GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 2TB.

The main highlight of the V40 ThinQ is its cameras. It has triple rear cameras: 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.5 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size, 78° lens, a 16-megapixel super wide camera with f/1.9 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, 107° lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, 45° lens, and Dual LED flash. The Triple Shot feature stitches together the images captured with each of the three lenses into a short video file for easy sharing.

For selfie, there is a dual selfie setup: a 5-megapixels wide-angle lens and 8-megapixels standard camera for bokeh effect with an on-screen slider to adjust the amount of background blur. It has Dual PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) for automatic focusing that is 50% faster, advanced HDR feature analyzes and determines the right exposure settings to create perfectly lit shots, AI Auto White Balance (AI AWB), AI Shutter selects the right shutter speed, especially useful when trying to capture fast-moving subjects, Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar and AR Emoji.

The LG V40 ThinQ has a fingerprint sensor on the back, also MIL-STD 810G military-grade durability and is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. The device has 3.5mm audio jack with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and Boombox Speaker. The handset runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based on LG UX out of the box (upgradable to Android 9.0 Pie).

It packs a 3300mAh battery with support for fast charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 (Quick Charge 4 Compatible) and wireless charging. For connectivity includes 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth 5 LE, NFC, USB Type-C 2.0 (3.1 compatible). The device measures 1518.7 x 75.8 x 7.7mm and weighs 169 grams.
