Lenovo is removing the veils from its 9 new ThinkPad laptop models, one of the most successful series of the business products as regards the Chinese-American giant. All new Lenovo laptops will be shown for the first time during the next Consumer Electronics Show to be held in Las Vegas next week, but we can already take a look at what are the main features of the new models.
First, let’s start with the X series, the most powerful in the lineup that we have seen the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga in the second half of 2017. Obviously, there will be an update of these two models, or at least not so soon, but during the next CES 2018 will be able to admire the new X280 and X380 Yoga.
Both new models have been upgraded with eighth-generation Intel Core i7 processors and offer up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. As the name suggests, ThinkPad X380 Yoga comes with the typical form-factor of the Yoga solutions, which allows you to rotate the display on itself 360 degrees and turn the laptop into a tablet.
Both laptops are equipped with USB Type-C ports through which you can also charge the battery, which is a common feature to all new ThinkPad laptop models. The distinctive feature of the new ThinkPad X280 is the presence of what is called ThinkShutter, which is a physical cover that covers the webcam by disabling it for better privacy, a feature that is also taken over the new T series that we will talk about soon. The X380 Yoga model does not include this new specification but offers an IR camera for access via Windows Hello.
In addition to the X series models, Lenovo today also announces the new T series laptops, as anticipated, and the L series, the most affordable from an economic point of view. Both the series also includes the new eighth-generation Intel processors as well.
Lenovo T series laptops also offer already mentioned physical webcam cover and among these the two most powerful in the series, namely T480 and T580, also comes with the IR camera for Windows Hello. The Lenovo L series, however, the one that will cost less than all, offers two USB-C port with support for charging through one of them.
