After the announcement of the Laowa 17mm F1.8 micro four third lens back in December last year, now the new Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Macro APO Lens is the first macro lens that Venus Optics has developed for systems other than full-frame. This is the only macro lens on the market designed specifically for mirrorless cameras and capable of offering 2:1 magnification with a minimum focusing distance of 17 cm.
The optical design of the Laowa 65mm F2.8 2X Ultra Macro contains three extra-low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberrations throughout the frame. The lens can eliminate both lateral and longitudinal chromatic aberrations in the frame, which means that aberration in both the “in focus” and in the “out of focus” region is almost invisible to the naked eye.
Optimized APS-C images provide “stunning detail and center-to-contrast,” even with a wide aperture. This professional lens provides, according to the manufacturer, “exceptional resolution and sharpness.”
