The exterior design follows the LaCie Rugged lines by industrial designer Neil Poulton dating back decades. These new LaCie external hard drive still come in orange or black rubber with a beautiful finish, good impact resistance suitable for users who are on the move, need a durable hard drive, combine the most between performance and durability. LaCie Rugged SSD, Rugged SSD Pro and Rugged BOSS SSD drives have different prices for each specific segment, balancing the price and performance. All hard drives are bundled with a 5-year Rescue Data Recovery service and Data is secured with Seagate Secure encryption technology.

LaCie Rugged SSD Pro:

Targeting professional filmmakers who need to handle high-resolution 8K video files with large frame rates. LaCie Rugged SSD Pro drives use a Seagate FireCuda NVMe SSD drive inside for speeds of up to 2,800 MB/s. It uses the latest Thunderbolt 3 and also the first mobile hard drive with USB 3.1 Thunderbolt 3 support.

The LaCie Rugged SSD Pro is equipped with IP67 waterproof rating to prevent dust and water resistance up to 1m for 30 minutes, withstand shock when dropped at a height of 3m and withstand a rolling force of up to 2 tons when overtaken by a car.

LaCie Rugged SSD Pro price starts from $399.99 for the 1TB version, $699.99 for the 2TB version and it can be pre-ordered through Bhphotovideo.com online store.

LaCie Rugged SSD drives still use the Seagate FireCuda NVMe SSD internal drive for speeds up to 950 MB/s. It uses USB 3.1 Gen 2, not Thunderbolt 3.

LaCie external drives are equipped with IP67 rating for dust and water resistance for up to 1m for 30 minutes, shock resistance when dropped at 3m and rolling up to 2 tons when overtaken by a car.

Once the file has been copied to the hard drive, you can use the LaCie BOSS app on iOS and Android to manage files such as viewing, renaming or deleting easily.

With the Rugged BOSS SSD, LaCie doesn’t mention its water-resistance as the two above drives, but it is likely to be the same as the previous LaCie Rugged drives with shock resistance when dropped in 1.2m, protected by dust, and water.
