KORG shows SoundLink MW1608 and MW2408 Hybrid Analog/Digital Mixer at NAMM 2020

Two new hybrid Analog/Digital Mixer consoles from Korg are coming just in time for NAMM 2020. And here it says: Not only the sound but also the usability of a mixer is important, especially when it has to be fast on stage. So Korg teamed up with two luminaries in mixer design – Greg Mackie and Peter Watts – to develop Korg SoundLink MW-2408 and MW-1608 Hybrid Analog/Digital Mixer consoles.

KORG Hybrid Analog Digital Mixer

The result of this cooperation, which was announced a year ago, are portable mixers with great features that are normally only known from large mixing consoles. The noble sound combined with high-end technology. Both the 24 and the 16-channel version offer no-frills, analog user comfort and great additional functions that are completely tailored to musicians.

The HiVolt microphone preamp installed in the Korg gadget consoles shows that a low noise level can certainly go hand in hand with high headroom. This is thanks to the internal 16.5V voltage (even with stereo channels). Furthermore, with the special and unique “Musician’s Phone” function, the stereo sum signal can be mixed into your own monitor to keep an eye on the entire musical scene.

In addition to a limiter, a single-control compressor for all microphone channels and a noise gate function, the two Korg mixer models have 24 top-class digital effects in Bundesliga quality to offer. These can even be changed conveniently and easily as well as saved according to your own wishes.

A 24-band spectrum analyzer for the integrated noise generators, multi-band sum EQs and freely programmable mute groups skillfully round off the entire package in addition to free mastering software from iZotope.

You immediately recognize features and ideas that only Greg Mackie could come up with and which are painfully lacking elsewhere. You can also immediately feel that Peter Watts has incorporated a lot of his experience in the development of the Trident technology and high-end studio processors into this desk. The ideal combination of Greg Mackie’s and Peter Watts’ know-how in cooperation with the KORG engineers shows that only professionals were at work.
