HTC USA has spoken in recent hours on a topic that is very close to the owners of a smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer, namely the release date of Android 9 Pie. The company has confirmed that it is currently working to ensure the compatibility of the update with its devices and anticipates a maximum timing.
Specifically, HTC U11, U11 Plus and U12 Plus will start receiving Android 9 Pie update from the second quarter; while there is no explicit mention of other models. However, the exact dates will depend on the individual operators in the various markets. It is a very wide time interval, since it includes the months of April, May and June. The launch of the roll out could therefore start as early as next month or be shifted towards June.
HTC has updated to Android 9 Pie U11 Life at the end of November. A choice that has not failed to arouse perplexity as it is a 2017 mid-range handset, while the most recent ones are still waiting.
