HP Spectre x2: Hybrid Tablet with Built-in Stand, Priced at $799

HP today introduced a new 2-in-1 hybrid laptop/tablet called Spectre x2, a very similar machine in design and configuration when compared to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 but comes with a more less-expensive price when starting from $799.99. It is the first HP laptop with adjustable kickstand in the back and bundled with the keyboard, while the Surface Pro 4 not only comes without the keyboard, but also starts at $899 with the same specifications.

The HP Spectre x2 features a 12-inch display, basically it is a tablet that runs on Windows 10, but the built-in kickstand and connected to the keyboard, it will become a compact Windows laptop. This is the first HP’s laptop which comes with an integrated rear stand with adjustable steps for the different viewing angle. The HP Spectre x2 is powered by 6th generation Intel Core M3, M5 or M7 processor, 4 to 8 GB RAM, 128 to 512 GB SSD storage and especially with up to 2 USB-C port with charging function, which is attached to an adapter for you to connect with old accessories using the Micro USB. The tablet also includes a microSD memory card slot and battery life up to 10 hours.

The screen has a high resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels, but still lower than the Surface Pro 4 (2736 x 1824 pixels). There is also a touch screen and also supports a pressure-sensitive Wacom-made active pen. However, this pen sold separately rather than bundled as on SP4. Spectre x2 weighs around 840 grams, SP4 bit a lighter one when comes with a 766 grams weigh. Spectre x2 has 3 cameras, including two 5-megapixel camera in the front, 8-megapixel RealSense camera on the back.

As for the keyboard, the each key share space of 1.5mm, only losing 0.1mm versus Surface Book keyboard, it promises keyboard touch will be a feels good and efficient. After attaching the keyboard, the total weight of the laptop increased to 1.22 kg. The reason for this heavy keyboard because it is integrated within Bang & Olufsen loudspeaker (2x speakers one in keyboard and another in tablet). Besides, the HP Spectre x2 also compatible with Verizon’s 4G network.
