HP presents the updated version of Specter x360 15 2018 an appreciated portable convertible laptop at CES 2018. The new 2018 model integrates the recent eighth-generation Intel Core processors with quad-core architecture and a 15.6-inch display with 4K UHD resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 4, and equipped with touchscreen and HP Tilt Pen stylus support, which recognizes up to 1024 pressure levels.
Intel Core 8th gen. processor can be paired, depending on the configurations, with AMD Radeon RX Vega M video cards (KBL-G model) or Nvidia GeForce MX 150 (KBL-R model). The first, the most powerful, involves the use of the Intel Core i7 quad-core 65-watt clock with 3.1 GHz, which comes with 4.1 GHz in Turbo mode, while the second integrates Intel Core i7 quad-core 1.8 GHz (up to 4 GHz in Turbo mode) 15 watt. The convertible laptop can be configured with a maximum of 16GB of DDR4 RAM and SSD with a maximum capacity of 2TB.
The multimedia segment on HP Specter x360 15 2018 is also rich, the presence of an audio system created in collaboration with Bang & Olfusen, divided into four loudspeakers: two on the upper part of the body and two on the lower part. Do not miss an IR webcam compatible with the Windows Hello authentication system, and to stay on security, a fingerprint sensor located on the right edge of the laptop.
On the connections front, there is Thunderbolt 3 – 2x on KBL-G and 1x on KBL-R variant (associated with a USB 3.1 on a USB Type C connector) – a USB 3.1 port with a Type-A connector, the HDMI 2.0, the SD card reader and the 2X2 WiFi AC interface with MU-MIMO support.
The stated battery life is about 13.5 hours for the KBL-R model and up to 12 hours for the KBL-G, the 84Wh battery with HP Fast Charge technology – 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes (KBL-G) and 90 percent in 90 minutes (KBL-R). The company then paid particular attention to the design aspects by providing a renewed and efficient heat disposal system produced by the internal components: an IR temperature sensor regulates and controls the flow of air.
HP Specter x360 15 2018 is made entirely of aluminum, has a very thin frame on the sides of the screen – measuring only 6.3 mm and have been reduced by 3.8% compared to Specter x360 15 2017 variants – and is available only in Dark Ash Silver color with Copper Luxe elements. The dimensions are 359 x 250 x 19.45 mm, while the weight varies from 2.09 to 2.14 kilograms depending on the configurations.
HP also revised the layout of the keyboard and touchpad compared to last year’s model: the first houses a numeric keypad, whose space was obtained by repositioning the speakers placed on the sides of the keyboard, the second was moved further to the left (it was in the middle of the body in the previous model). The keyboard is backlit and the keys have a 1.5 mm travel time.
The new HP Specter x360 15 2018 will be available in the USA starting from March 18th. The price starts at $1369.99 (KBL-R variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD) and comes to $1699.99 (KBL-G variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD).
