HP Chromebook x2 With Detachable Design, 12.3-inch Display, HP Active Pen

HP presents the first 2-in-1 Chromebook, a 12.3-inch convertible with active pen support, magnetic hinge and Google Play integration. HP Chromebook x2 price is $599 and will be available from June.

HP Chromebook x2 will have the Intel Core m3-7Y30 processor, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB of storage (100GB of Google Drive cloud space for 2 years) with microSD, Wi-Fi ac 2×2 with Bluetooth 4.2, and two cameras: the 5-megapixel at front and the 13-megapixel at rear. The screen will be an IPS with a resolution of 2400×1600 pixels (235 ppi) protected by Gorilla Glass. There will be 2 USB-C ports, a 3.5 mm audio jack, the B&O audio system, and the typical tablet sensor range: accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and digital compass.

The tablet with keyboard weighs 1440 grams (the tablet only weighs 740 grams) and with a thickness of 15.3 mm (including keyboard, the tablet is 8.2 mm thick). HP Chromebook x2 will have a 48Wh battery with a declared life of up to 10.5 hours credible value on Chrome OS. The finishes will be white and opaque in contrast with the metal frame; to improve the resistance to staves and scrapes, there will be an AED treatment (Anodized Electrodeposition) for a final effect similar to white ceramic.

HP Chromebook x2 can be handled with one hand thanks to the magnetic hinge, and will have a certain rigidity when used as a laptop because of the keyboard cover. HP Active Pen that should be the same as the Specter x360 and Envy x360, then with AAAA battery and 1024 pressure levels. Stylus should ensure better compatibility with Android applications for freehand writing and drawing.

HP is not the only company to have a tablet with Chrome OS in the catalog; shortly before, even if only for the school sector, will come on the market Acer Chromebook Tab 10 with Wacom digitizer and OP1 processor (Rockchip, the same as Samsung Chromebook Plus) at a price of $329.
