Honor 7X Android 8.0 Oreo Software Update Rollout Begins April 30

Honor 7X, the Huawei brand’s popular mid-range handset from early this year, is soon getting a taste of Oreo as Huawei will roll out the Android 8.0 software update on the smartphone today. The stable update comes weeks after Huawei brand Honor started an Android Oreo beta update for the Honor 7X and is a part of the Android update plan that the company revealed previously and included handsets other than the Honor 7X.

The announcement was made by Honor USA on its official Twitter page, which stated that the rollout will commence from April 30. A new update will bring Android Oreo alongside EMUI 8.0 user interface, is initially arriving in the US with a handful of new features.

Honor 7X Android 8.0 Oreo update can be installed wirelessly via OTA. You can check the availability of the software update in the device by going to Settings > System > System Update and then tapping on the Check for Updates option.

The Honor 7X Android 8.0 Oreo update brings quick shortcut menus from app icons that can be accessed by long pressing the app icon. Users can also drag the desired feature out from the pop-up menu to create a new shortcut on the home screen. Similarly, there is a floating navigation dock that can be accessed from anywhere on the screen.

The new software version also includes a redesigned Settings menu and an updated Phone Manager that optimizes the system based on usage patterns. The Honor team has also provided a photo gallery recycle bin that allows users to restore the photos and videos that they’ve accidentally deleted from the phone. It is worth noting here that the recycle bin retains deleted photos and videos for 30 days.

Huawei Honor 7X Android 8.0 Oreo update also brings a seamless LinkedIn integration that lets users sync the career details of their LinkedIn contacts directly with the native Contacts and Email apps. Users can also leverage the enhanced Bluetooth connectivity support within the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 to simultaneously connect their Honor 7X with two Bluetooth devices. Lastly, the update includes a face unlock feature that unlocks the device after scanning a recognized user face and can prevent unlocking with closed eyes.
